A delegation of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry headed by acting First Deputy Foreign Minister Valeriy Ivashchenko participated in the 55th Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of CIS Participating States that took place in St. Petersburg (Russia).
The delegation took part as an observer, the Defense Ministry's press service informs today.
The delegation head discussed problem issues of bilateral cooperation in the defense sphere with Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov.
In particular, on further realization of a joint project on creation of the military-transport aircraft AN-70, on the future fate of the Ukraina cruiser, possibility of making repairs of ships and vessels of the Russian Black Sea Fleets at Ukrainian shipbuilding enterprises, other projects in which the Ukrainian enterprises may be interested.
In addition, Ivashchenko informed Serdyukov about measures taken by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry to fulfill normative-legal acts adopted in Ukraine with regard to issues of crossing the state border and movement of the Russian Black Sea Fleet elements and units on the Ukrainian territory.
