President Victor Yushchenko met today with delegates from the International Monetary Fund: Head of the Delegation Ceyla Pazarbasioglu, deputy Head of the delegation Mark Flanagan and IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine Balazs Horvath.
From Ukraine participants of the meeting were Finances Minister Viktor Pynzenyk, National Bank Head Volodymyr Stelmakh, first deputy Chief of Staff of Presidential Secretariat Oleksandr Shlapak and deputy Chief of Staff Andrii Goncharuk.
At the meeting sides discussed influence of world financial crisis on Ukraine and ways to minimize it.
Speaking about his opinion on the subject President stressed: “Today the situation at both internal and external markets is not easy, however I am an absolute optimist and assured that we will be able to present proper response [to challenges before] investors, business and financial system if we make system steps”.
He also informed that Ukrainian institutions are elaborating a consolidated plan of anti-crisis measures and stressed that he expects support of the plan from both political circles and international financial organizations, such as IMF.
“Having dialogue is very important for us now”, - he said.
