President leaves for Poland

Accompanied by Foreign Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Deputy Prime Minister Andriy Klyuyev, Ukrtransnafta Chairman of the Board Ihor Kiryushyn and Deputy Secretariat Chief of Staff Oleksandr Chalyy, President Victor Yushchenko has left for a one-day visit to Poland to participate in an informal energy summit.

The talks will involve Lech Kaczynski of Poland, Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Mikhail Saakashvili of Georgia, Valdas Adamkus of Lithuania and Kazakhstan’s energy and mineral resources minister, Baktykozha Izmukhambetov, and are expected to focus on ways to balance the Energy Charter with the interests of energy producers, transporters and consumers.

Yushchenko will also hold talks with the leaders of the GUAM states to discuss preparations for a June summit of this organization in Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku.
