President Yanukovych meets President Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that relations between Ukraine and Turkmenistan are good and coordinated in almost all areas. However, he noted recently there were some gaps in trade and economic cooperation between our countries, and expressed hope that they would be filled.

Viktor Yanukovych thanked Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the congratulations and said that 50 days of his presidency were quite enough for him to determine the real state of affairs in Ukraine. That's why he invited representatives of the Ukrainian Government to the meeting - to specifically discuss further cooperation between Ukraine and Turkmenistan.

The President also stressed that along with the traditionally good trade-economic relations, Ukraine and Turkmenistan have always had good and friendly relations between the peoples. Viktor Yanukovych congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and in his person all the Turkmen people on the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory.

"May 9 is our common holiday. So I would ask you to convey my personal congratulations to veterans living in Turkmenistan, who in 1945 come home with victory, liberating the world from the fascist plague," said Viktor Yanukovych.

"Today we must show the veterans that we are worthy descendants of soldiers of the Victory. That we are not afraid of any difficulties and will overcome them," summed up the President of Ukraine.
