President takes part in informal summit of CIS leaders


"The fact that we are here today, honoring the events of those times, is very symbolic," said the President of Russia.

Among priorities of cooperation of CIS member states for this year, Dmitry Medvedev named development of cooperation in science, high-tech, modernization of economy, which, he said, "unfortunately has not yet fully recovered from the economic crisis”.


Ukraine's President thanked those present for congratulations on his election. He also thanked gratitude for organization of the summit.

In his speech, Viktor Yanukovych said the Victory Day is a very important holiday for nations that fought in the Great Patriotic war and told about the Presidents of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus taking part in the opening of memorial "Cities of military glory in Alexander Gardens in Moscow.

"On the eve of the Great Victory day it is important to conduct joint celebration of the holiday," said Viktor Yanukovych.
