President: We will do everything for our children to know our history and the price of Victory

He said that this year the issue of providing housing to disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War would be solved with 140 million UAH allocated to the purpose. Another 50 million UAH were foreseen to buy cars for the disabled.

On May 9, said Viktor Yanukovych, veterans from all the Ukrainian cities would take part in festive parades in Kyiv, Odesa, Sevastopol and Kerch. Also parades will be held in all cities where military units and military garrisons are deployed.

"I'm sure we will do everything for our children to know our history and the price of Victory," said Viktor Yanukovych.

Making comments on the fact that this year Victory Day coincides with Mother's Day, President Yanukovych assured that on May 9 both holidays would be celebrated at the appropriate level: "We will honor mothers, who have survived through harsh times of war, who raised children after the war, were restoring the country together with men... We all understand that without Mothers the Victory was impossible," said Viktor Yanukovych.

Today the President also laid flowers to the monument to twice Hero of the Soviet Union, pilot-cosmonaut Georgy Beregovoy in Yenakiyeve.
