President instructs to enhance financing of Chernobyl NPP decommissioning

In particular, the instructions concern Ukraine's contributions into the Chernobyl Shelter Fund and the Nuclear Safety Account, as well as the financing of works improve barrier functions of the exclusion zone, finishing the construction of social infrastructure facilities in the city of Slavutych, providing guaranteed healthcare and welfare to the population, suffering from the consequences of the Chernobyl accident, etc.

The President also noted that in the amendments to 2010 State Budget and Budget Laws of the subsequent years the Government should foresee funds for implementation of these measures and identify them as the protected expenditures.

Senior officials are to hold a meeting with contractors dedicated to the issues of decommissioning the Chernobyl NPP and construction of the Shelter facility, and develop a plan of events to observe the 25^th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.
