President Yushchenko meets President Lukashenko of Belarus

In Chernihiv a bilateral meeting began between President Victor Yushchenko and President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus.

“It is a great honor for me to welcome the President of Belarus and greet friendly neighboring Belarusian nation, with which we have a great historic past and very active present life”, - said President Yushchenko opening the meeting.

He said that he is pleased about absence of serious problems in Ukrainian-Belarusian bilateral relations adding also that there is much potential for their development in such fields as energy, trade, oil-processing, transport, etc. For this, President Yushchenko noted, the sides are to sign four very important bilateral documents.

From his part Belarusian President also expressed pleasure about good relations between Belarus and Ukraine, particularly at two countries’ citizens level.
