President Victor Yushchenko sent letters to Chancellor of Austria Werner Faymann, President of the Council of Ministers of Italy Silvio Berlusconi, Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, President of Slovakia Ivan Gašparovič, President of the USA George Bush, President of Hungary László Sólyom, President of France Nicolas Sarkozy, President of Czech Republic Václav Klaus and President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso.
In his letter President Yushchenko informed that in 2008 Ukraine has been conducting complicated talks with Russian Federation on the conditions of gas supplies and transit in 2009 and following years.
During the talks Ukrainian side has been keeping up to all the bilateral documents between Ukraine and Russian Federation that regarded cooperation in gas trade field.
“On December 30, 2008 Ukrainian side has paid off charge for the gas received this year”, - said Victor Yushchenko in his letter. He also emphasized that Ukraine continues talks with Russia.
