B.Sokolovsky: European Commission delegation to arrive in Kiev today to discuss situation with gas supplies

President’s Representative on International Energy Security Bohdan Sokolovsky informed that in response to invitation of President Victor Yushchenko and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and in accordance with agreements of January 2 reached by Ukrainian delegation in Prague, Bratislava and in Berlin, a delegation of the European Commission is to arrive today in Kyiv to discuss regulation of Russia-Ukraine-Europe gas trade regulation.

The delegation includes Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Martin Riman, Ambassador-at-Large for Energy Security of the Czech Republic Vaclav Bartuska, Director General at DG Energy & Transport of European Commission Mattias Ruete, other officials.

During their stay in Kyiv the delegates will examine the situation with transit of Russian gas through Ukrainian territory to the EU countries and discuss Ukraine’s position on arranging transparent cooperation with Russia and the EU in supplies of gas to Ukraine and its transit to Europe. They will hold talks with the officials from NJSC ‘Naftogaz of Ukraine’, Presidential Secretariat, Cabinet of Ministers and Ministry for Fuel and Energy.
