President Victor Yushchenko met with Minister of Labor and Social Policy Liudmyla Denysova, representatives of executive authorities, trade unions and employers to discuss with them problems in labor policy.
President noted that in last months number of jobs has been falling gradually with 700 thousand people unemployed as on December 1. With current tempo of reduction of a number of opened vacancies, according to experts, the number of unemployed may reach 870 thousand on January 1 and 1,5 million on April 1.
“I call upon everybody to prevent this prognosis from becoming true”, - said Victor Yushchenko addressing those present.
According to him it is important that joint efforts of state and local authorities, trade unions and employers were aimed at improving the situation, first of all at reduction of jobs in result of governmental and legal decisions.
