President gathers all-national anti-crisis consultative meeting

President Victor Yushchenko, as a chairman, took part in an all-national anti-crisis consultative meeting that was arranged at Ukrainian House and was dedicated to finding ways to neutralize negative impact of world financial crisis on Ukraine and to rejuvenate Ukrainian economy.

In President's opinion all state authorities together with leading businessmen and civil society leaders should put maximum of their efforts into stabilizing the situation and fighting recession that threatenes basic branches of Ukrainian economy and may result in decrease in GDP growth, unemployment, curtailment of national social programs, decrease in tax incomes, etc.

In order to fight the abovementioned negative tendencies, according to Victor Yushchenko, state authorities should coordinate efforts of all the institutions, able to stir up overcoming the crisis.

At the meeting participants have discussed such issues as:

  • impact of global economic and financial crisis on Ukraine
  • fighting recession in such important branches of Ukrainian economy as metallurgy, chemical industry, machine building, banks system.
  • improvement of financial and economic situation at enterprises in the crisis
  • redirection of products of export-oriented enterprises to internal markets
  • provision of social protection to employees in the crisis.

Participants of the meeting were Verkhovna Rada Speaker, Prime Minister, leaders of parliamentary groups, ministers, regional governors, local self-government officials, chairmen of industrial enterprises, financial and economic experts.
