Ukraine has supplied to Sweden-based enterprise of the Japanese-US Westinghouse company enriched uranium for fabrication of 42 fuel assemblies for the Southern Ukrainian nuclear power plant, Natalia Shumkova, director of the nuclear energy and atomic industry department at the Fuel and Energy Ministry of Ukraine, told a conference of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society.
"We have complied with our commitments," she said noting that the uranium was enriched in Russia, and supplied on a give-and-take basis.
According to Shumkova, a Ukrainian delegation left for Sweden in October to audit assembly production at Westinghouse enterprises.
The delivery of 42 fuel assemblies to the third reactor of the Southern Ukrainian NPP is scheduled for 2009. Since 2005 the NPP has been running six US assemblies.
