In Zhytomyr President Victor Yushchenko took part in the IV congress of specialists in social medicine and organization of healthcare.
The agenda of the gathering included such problems as:
- development of national healthcare system
- quality staffing of national healthcare system
- reforming healthcare and bringing it closer to European standards
- prospects of development of social medicine as scientific discipline in Ukraine
In his address at the event President Yushchenko said that together with increasing financing of healthcare it is important to reform it.
Explaining that opinion, President Yushchenko stressed with disappointment that despite financing of healthcare in Ukraine is increased with every year, it appears to have no effect on health of the nation. According to him, therefore, increase in financing itself does not solve issues in healthcare and the branch requires reforming.
In continuation President said that to his opinion it’s the workers of healthcare themselves, who should be providing ideas to reforming the branch. “You should organize reforms in healthcare. And I will be the first partner to you in that”, - said Victor Yushchenko.
