President Victor Yushchenko met in Ankara with the President of Turkey Abdullah Gül.
At the meeting sides discussed cooperation between the two countries on bilateral, regional and international level.
After the meeting the two leaders held a joint press conference.
Speaking to media President Yushchenko expressed assurance that busy agenda of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Turkey proves that both sides are interested in developing good neighborly relations.
He informed that the two leaders dedicated much of their attention to the situation in the region, Ukraine’s aspiration to get NATO MAP, other security issues. In that field according to President Yushchenko the sides have full mutual understanding.
From his part President Abdullah Gül affirmed that his country supports NATO opened doors policy and therefore welcomes Ukraine’s advance towards joining the organization.
Beside that the two leaders reached agreement that Education Ministries of the two countries would soon begin talks on agreement on reciprocal recognition of diplomas and academic degrees.
Separately the President of Turkey thanked Ukrainian side for support of Crimean Tatars who live in Crimea.
