President Victor Yushchenko met today with the IMF mission Head Ceyla Pazarbasioglu to discuss recommendations by the organization to Ukraine.
President informed IMF mission Head on measures about to be taken to minimize world financial crisis impact on Ukraine. According to him these decisions consider some recommendations of the IMF such as on a problem of Prominvestbank, continuation of social payments in 2009, economically grounded pricing for gas and other municipal tariffs, introduction of a system of banks’ refinancing, etc.
He also told that in order the NSDC elaborated plan and all laws within its framework were adopted, the work of the Parliament was restored for a few days.
Separately the two officials discussed possible social implications of the crisis and anti-crisis measures introduction.
From Ukrainian side participants of the meeting were Finances Minister Viktor Pynzenyk, National Bank Head Volodymyr Stelmakh, first deputy Chief of Staff of Presidential Secretariat Oleksandr Shlapak and deputy Chief of Staff of Presidential Secretariat Andrii Goncharuk.
