Ukraine, Japan to conclude memorandum of cooperation to implement UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, Kyoto Protocol

Ukraine and Japan will conclude a memorandum of cooperation to implement the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol, according to press-service of Ukraine's Environmental Protection Ministry.

The instrument will be signed in Kyiv by Ukraine's Environmental Protection Minister Heorhiy Filipchuk and Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Matsuo Mabuchi.

The memorandum conclusion will give Ukraine new possibilities to attract investments to introduce an environment friendly technology through projects of joint implementation in line with mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol and the Schemes of Green Investments.

Ukraine has been a party to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change since 1997.

The Ukrainian parliament ratified the Kyoto Protocol in February 2004.
