Romanian foreign minister to visit Ukraine on July 17-18

Romanian Foreign Minister Lazar Comanescu will make an official visit to Ukraine on July 17-18. During his visit, he will hold a tete-a-tete meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko and Ukrainian-Romanian talks will then be held, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Vasyl Kyrylych, has said.

The committee on the security of European, Euro-Atlantic and regional cooperation, which is part of the Ukrainian-Romanian joint presidential commission, will hold the second meeting during the visit.

In Kyiv, Comanescu will also meet with Ukraine's top-ranking officials.

A number of bilateral documents will also be signed during the visit, particularly a protocol on educational cooperation between the Ukrainian Education and Science Ministry and the Romanian Ministry of Education, Research and Youth for 2008-2009, 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 academic years.

Kyrylych said that Ukraine hopes that the Ukrainian-Romanian intergovernmental agreement on local border traffic would be either signed or initialed during the visit.
