Goods turnover between Belarus, Ukraine doubles in January-May, reaches USD 2.1 billion

A commodity turnover between Belarus and Ukraine doubled in January-May 2008 against the relevant period 2007 and totals almost USD 2.1 billion, as reported with reference to BelTA News Agency.

Export of Belarusian products to Ukraine increased 2.7fold up to almost USD 1.3 billion during five months 2008. Import went up by 47% and totals USD 810.1 million. Mutual trade balance is positive for Belarus at the rate of USD 475.2 million.

According to Belarusian diplomatic representatives in Ukraine, the goods turnover volume between the countries may be boosted up to USD 4 billion by 2008 results.

In 2006, mutual trade volume totalled about USD 2.5 billion and in 2007 exceeded USD 3 billion.
