Internal discussions continue between the EU states and in the EU Council about the name and preamble of a new enhanced agreement with Ukraine, therefore an answer about formulations of this document may be found for the next meeting of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers. European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner expressed hope for that today in Brussels during a working breakfast organized within the frames of the Brussel's Center for European Policy, as reported from Brussels.
Benita Ferrero-Waldner noted that negotiations with Ukraine are gaining ground. At the same time, issues about the name of the document and its preamble remain open for today.
"These issues have not been solved yet and there are different opinions apropos of this. But finally we should find correct words. Since it is obvious, although Ukraine does not like it, that this country is within the European neighborhood policy. It is a country which presently has no prospects of the EU membership, although we are not able to foresee the future beforehand. At the same time, we admit that Ukraine is a European country, and we should see how our relations will be developing in the future", the European Commissioner noted.
