Consumer food prices 0.6% up in June

The growth in consumer prices for food products in Ukraine amounted to 0.6% in June compared to May 2008, the State Statistics Committee reported.

The committee registered the highest growth in prices for bread and bread products (3.1%), meat and meat products (1.4%), fish and fish products (2.2%), potatoes (26.2%), animal fats (4.1%), sugar confectionery (1.9%), and non-alcoholic drinks (1.6%).

At the same time, many food products fell in prices - milk (2%), cheese and curds (1.2%), eggs (14.1%), butter (0.6%), sunflower oil (0.8%), fruits (2.3%), vegetables (0.8%), and sugar (1.9%).

Ukraine saw inflation of 0.8% in June and 15.5% since the beginning of the year.
