The Foundation for Development of Ukraine has allocated USD 40 million to fight cancer diseases, the foundation's president, Regions Party MP Rinat Akhmetov said, as reported with reference to the party's press service.
According to Akhmetov, Ukraine has well-qualified doctors, but technical opportunities are very restricted. For example, the United States has a larger number of people who have cancer than Ukraine, but a smaller number of cancer deaths. "Because they invest large amounts of money in early detection of cancer and its timely treatment. Thus, I decided to allocate USD 40 million to fight cancer diseases," he said.
Akhmetov said that the money would be spent on the purchase of high-technology equipment that would be used in oncology, radiology and neurology.
