President
Victor Yushchenko together with his wife Kateryna Yushchenko and President
Valdas Adamkus of Lithuania
took part in an opening of exhibition dedicated to Holodomor 1932-1933 in Vilnius Genocide
Victims' Museum.
In his speech
at the ceremony President Yushchenko stressed that Ukraine considers its moral imperative to inform international community on the truth about
this horrific page of its history. He also expressed gratitude to Lithuanian
side for helping arranging the exhibition.
President
Adamkus from his part expressed assurance that preserving historic memory for
every nation is a straight road to civilized society. He also invited as many
people as possible to see the exhibition, especially those young.
The
present honored memory of those lost in the tragedy with observing a moment of
silence.
The
exhibition about The Great Famine in Ukraine
of 1932-1933 has been arranged by initiative of Ukraine 3000 Charitable Foundation.
It presents materials on the history and causes for Holodomor in Ukraine,
victims numbers data, memories of the witnesses, etc.
