Ukrainian military officers participating in conference on NATO response force exercise in Yerevan

Yerevan is hosting a main planning conference of the multinational exercise of NATO Response Force (NRF) in frames of the NATO-led Partnership for Peace Program - Cooperative Longbow-2008 and Cooperative Lancer-2008. Participating in the forum is also a group of Ukraine's Armed Forces officers.

The conference participants will consider the exercise's plan and scenario, specify composition of forces and means from NATO member states and partners, terms to conduct future maneuvers, issues of the exercise's comprehensive support etc, the Defense Ministry press-service reported.

The NRF maneuvers will be conditionally divided into two stages. The first phase of the exercise named cooperative Longbow-2008 will form and prepare command and staff of the multinational brigade. During the second phase - Cooperative Lancer-2008 - the brigade staff will train actions on real units control during a field phase of the maneuvers.

It is worth adding that Cooperative Longbow-2008 and Cooperative Lancer-2008 are the successors of Cooperative Bets Effort and Cooperative Associated.

The planning conference will be running to May 16.
