economic council. The meeting gathered representatives from the Cabinet of

Organization, scientific research facilities, etc.
In his
address to those present President Yushchenko emphasized that there is a need
for effective cooperation between main social partners: the Government, trade
unions and employers. According to him main priority for such dialogue should
become protection of vulnerable society strata, labor market development,
enhancement of labor safety protection, issues of providing workers with accommodation,
etc.
Victor
Yushchenko also pointed to importance of providing legal grounds for such
dialogue, urging the Council to work out its working plan for next two to three
years and the parliamentarians – to adopt draft law “On basic foundations of
social dialogue in Ukraine”.
The draft law has been forwarded by the President to the Verkhovna Rada and would
regulate Government’s work with trade unions and employers.
