President insists on well thought-out privatization

Opening
social-economic block of his quarterly press-conference President Victor
Yushchenko dwelled on privatization policy.

He
criticized current privatization for being spontaneous and said that 79% on national enterprises have
been already privatized leaving the state in possession of critically small
amount of facilities crucial for national security.

He
also stressed that funds acquired through privatization need to be wisely and
effectively used and aimed at development of industry rather than at filling
gaps in the budget.

Answering
a question of journalists about situation about State Property Fund’s
leadership President emphasized that changing the Fund’s head is possible only
through appropriate decision of the Parliament. “Other way, including that
through decree of executive authority, is a brutal violation of the
Constitution and the law”, - he said.
