President visits Volodymyr Dahl East-Ukrainian National University


In front of the university President Yanukovych was met by Luhansk inhabitants. After talking to them, Viktor Yanukovych took part in the opening of monument to Volodymyr Dahl near the university.

The President also visited the Museum of achievements of Volodymyr Dahl East-Ukrainian National University. The University Rector told Viktor Yanukovych about main directions of facility’s scientific work, outstanding achievements and latest findings in advanced technology area.

The President also took part in the celebrations of the 90th anniversary of university’s establishment.

Addressing the audience, Viktor Yanukovych noted that he came to Luhansk region to thank inhabitants of the land for five years of support during difficult trials and, also, to try to do something useful for the region.

The President told about today's meeting of regional committee on economic reforms in Luhansk and about topics and issues discussed. "We cannot do any good, if we do not plan it. The world is changing and the change is enormous. So if we do not change along, we will lose," said Viktor Yanukovych, adding that the reform process in Ukraine involves the best domestic experts and highly skilled professionals from around the world.

"I never believed that it is possible to live the old ways. We must remember and preserve traditions, but always look for new approaches," he said.

Congratulating those present on the anniversary of the university, President Yanukovych said: "I have come to say that there is a great creative process before us. We will do everything possible to maximally remove the obstacles that hindered the development of our high school and education. I invite you to join this difficult but interesting journey.”
