Viktor Yanukovych, Alexander Lukashenko chair Ukrainian-Belarusian extended talks


During the bilateral meeting the President of Ukraine noted that he and his Belarusian colleague agreed not to waste time and quickly resolve issues concerning our relations. According to Viktor Yanukovych, this will open a new page in relations between Ukraine and Belarus.

The President also described the political situation in Ukraine, pointing out that now the government's actions are aimed at improvements in all spheres of life in the country. "Our plans are to overcome the crisis consequences most efficiently. And the program of development in Ukraine is mainly aimed at this," he said.

Viktor Yanukovych also noted that he had arrived in Belarus with the hope of further promotion of our relations in many directions. "We need and should solve a lot together," he believes. Among these issues the Head of State named the elaboration of cooperation roadmap between the two countries, deepening cooperation in mechanical engineering and resources processing.

Ukraine will also assist Belarus in the framework of its crude oil processing project.

From his part President Alexander Lukashenko noted that both countries now have an opportunity to significantly strengthen their positions in the region. "I hope that the period of inertia and stagnation in our relations has already gone," he said. President of Belarus hopes that today's meeting will be the basis for further good-neighborly relations. "In Belarus you will always have a reliable partner – people and state that will support you any time," he said.
