MinRegionBud: German companies intend to build airports and stadiums in Ukraine

Minister of Regional Development and Building of Ukraine Vasyl Kuibida has held a working meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine Hans-Jürgen Heimsoeth and a delegate of German economy in Ukraine Karin Rau.

During the meeting the parties considered conditions of drawing German companies into activity in the building domain of Ukraine, possibilities of realization of investment projects in the building area, in particular in the context of preparation to Euro-2012, and issues of energy effectiveness in the buildings.

The Ambassador briefed the Minister on intentions of German firms to participate in construction of airports and stadiums in Ukraine as well as to build infrastructure objects in the framework of gearing-up of Ukrainian cities to the finals of the European Football Championship of 2012.

Vasyl Kuibida noted when it concerns construction of objects under the state programs, Ukrainian Government welcomes intentions of foreign companies to participate in building of the objects by investing funds under the state guarantees. The Minister also informed the Ambassador that the list of such objects is public and will be forwarded to the German side with terms of announcement of tenders, so that concerned German firms could have chance to timely submit documents and take part in them.

The interlocutors also agreed within nearest time to set up a Ukrainian-German workgroup for construction issues which is to deal with elaboration of ways of solving problem topics emerging on the part of German companies, having an intention to work in Ukraine.

Another achievement was an understanding to cooperate in adaptation of Ukrainian legislative base regulating building activity to the EU norms.

Vasyl Kuibida informed in several weeks the Ministry of Regional Development will complete elaboration of a concept of reforming the building branch in post-crisis period and expressed hopes a new Ukrainian-German working group will study this document and provide critical recommendations.
