Ukrainian-Russian gas relations should be revised

At his quarterly press conference President Victor Yushchenko said that January gas agreements with Russia have not introduced stability in that sector of relations between the two states and should be revised.

Unfortunately, said Victor Yushchenko the reached agreements added problems in gas trade between Ukraine and Russia. Now the issues in payments for gas appear almost every month, there is no clear procedure for gas transit (volumes of transited gas are not set and transit fees are unfairly low), etc.

According to Victor Yushchenko the situation became possible due to political implication of the talks. Instead, Ukraine and Russia should find a way to bring gas relations to market standards and minimize political influence on them.
