President Victor Yushchenko took part in a general meeting of the National Academy of Scientists’ members today.
Speaking at the meeting President Yushchenko invited the scientists to more active cooperation in estimating impact of global financial-economic recession on Ukraine and elaboration of methods of overcoming it.
He also stressed that the crisis provided favorable conditions for conducting profound political, economic and social reforms, to which Ukrainian scientists could also contribute.
In his address to those present Victor Yushchenko also sketched topical issues that need attention of national science. Among these he named energy saving technologies, effective use of energy resources, humanitarian education of the society, development of Ukrainian language and culture, research of social-economic and political processes in the state, overcoming seclusion of Ukrainian society, etc.
