Ukrainian-Tajik talks begin

President Victor Yushchenko and President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan opened Ukrainian-Tajik talks.

In his opening word President Yushchenko said that Ukraine perceives relations with Tajikistan as special and having much potential. “We should develop our cooperation. Therefore we think that Ukraine-Tajikistan Action Plan for this and next year is the main document to model our relations”, - he said.

Speaking about economic cooperation President Yushchenko emphasized that Ukraine is mainly interested in energy constituent, expressing hope that Ukraine would remain a unique Tajikistan’s partner in energy and machine building projects.

Beside that President Yushchenko informed that in the first quarter of 2009 a meeting of joint commission on economic cooperation and business forum are to be held in Dushanbe.

Ukrainian delegation to the talks included First deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Volodymyr Khandogiy, Minister for Agrarian Policy Yuriy Melnyk, Minister for Family Yuriy Pavlenko, Minister for Culture Vasyl Vovkun, Minister for Regional Development Vasyl Kuibida, Defense Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov, Minister for Economy Bohdan Danylyshyn, Minister for Industries Volodymyr Novytskyi, Minister for Transport Yosyp Vinsky, deputy Chief of Staff at Presidential Secretariat Andrii Goncharuk.
