Press Office of the President of Ukraine informs that thanks to joint efforts of the President of Ukraine, the Government, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and National Bank, Ukraine has paid off the debt to Russia for gas supplied in 2008.Thus all the obstacles to reaching agreement on gas supplies for 2009 are removed.
The talks on this agreement are currently in progress and President Yushchenko is sure that they will be completed in the nearest future and that Ukraine will remain a reliable partner in transit of Russian gas to Europe.
