President meets the new Verkhovna Rada Speaker

President Victor Yushchenko met with the newly elected Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn.

At the meeting President Yushchenko expressed expectancy that successful election of the Speaker would unblock Parliament’s work.

Then President Yushchenko sketched for Speaker Lytvyn the most important subjects that in his opinion the Verkhovna Rada should work on in the nearest future.

As the most important, President named adoption of anti-crisis laws that would help Ukraine to overcome economic crisis. He also said that it is crucial to adopt the 2009 Budget, which according to him is very complicated due to problems in economy.

Beside that Victor Yushchenko expressed expectancy that the Verkhovna Rada would soon discuss those laws that he had marked as urgent.
