President Victor Yushchenko held a meeting with National Bank Chairman Volodymyr Stelmakh. Other participants of the meeting were Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn, First Deputy Chief of President’s Staff Oleksandr Shlapak and First Deputy Chairman of the NBU Anatoly Shapoval.
At the meeting sides discussed monetary policy and the situation at currency market.
Speaking at the meeting President Yushchenko president repeated importance of the NBU’s daily management of the situation at currencies market and revaluation of the Hryvnya.
He also urged National Bank to be more open when it comes to informing the society about the strategy and tactics of its actions.
Besides President Yushchenko said that he plans to meet Ukrainian bankers this week to discuss the situation and elaboration of further steps to regulate problems in banking sector.
