President Victor Yushchenko held a meeting with automobile building industry producers to discuss measures aimed at preventing recession in the industry.
Speaking at the event President named three main problems hampering industry’s development. According to him these were Ukraine’s accession to the WTO that opened national market to foreign products, revaluation of Hryvnya in the summer, and signs of recession at global markets in result of world financial crisis.
He also reminded that it is important to arrange full-scale production of automobiles in Ukraine to improve situation in the industry. According to him, however the goal has not yet been achieved, even despite the state had approved a law, providing national car-makers with preference until January 1, 2008.
