President Victor Yushchenko took part in celebration of Cossacks’ Day and Ukrainian Insurgent Army Day that took place at Sofiyivska Square in Kyiv.
Addressing the newly sworn in cadets of Ivan Bohun Military Lyceum, who were solemnly attested at the event, President greeted them and wished them to be worthy of fame of the legendary Cossack, Bohdan Khmelnitsky’s fellow-fighter Ivan Bohun.
Pointing to their role for Ukraine he also emphasized that strong army is one of major preconditions for garanteed independence and statehood.
After the ceremony President put flowers to the monument to Bohdan Khmelnytski.
