Foreign Minister meets EU trade and energy commissioners in Brussels

During a working visit to Brussels, Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko met EU Trade Commissioner Catherine Ashton and EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs, the foreign ministry sources told.

V. Ohryzko emphasized on importance and priority of negotiations for Ukraine on creation of a free trade zone as an important component of the future agreement on the Ukraine-EU Association and underscored that after the negotiations the parties should achieve mutually beneficial opening of the markets.

During a meeting with Energy Commissioner A. Piebalgs, the parties discussed issues of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in the energy sphere and exchanged opinions on fulfillment of the Memorandum between Ukraine and the EU on mutual understanding in the sphere of energy cooperation in 2008.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the Energy Community n November this year.
