Ukrainian officers participate in Immediate Response 2008 military exercise in Georgia

The U.S.-Georgian Immediate Response 2008 military exercise at the Vaziani military base near Tbilisi is dedicated to the fulfillment of tasks in the staff of the multinational headquarters in accordance with NATO procedures. The press service of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said that the U.S. side had invited seven officers of the Ukrainian army to participate in the exercise.

The purpose of the exercise is gaining practical experience by its participants in the staff of the multinational headquarters during operations to ensure stability and support in high-risk zones, and using this experience during the fulfillment of tasks in the multinational peacekeeping contingent or multinational headquarters.

Ukrainian soldiers also work on the issues of receiving and analyzing tasks, drawing up their options for action, taking decisions, and fulfilling tasks in the multinational headquarters in accordance with NATO procedures.

The Immediate Response 2008 U.S.-Georgian military exercise, involving Azerbaijani and Armenian soldiers, will last until August 1.
