President Victor Yushchenko wrote a letter to Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. In his letter President drew Prime Minister’s attention to situation with fighting corruption.
According to him the Government makes insufficient efforts in implementation of relevant President’s decrees. For example, despite legal acts signed by President Yushchenko required it to, the Cabinet has not yet worked out draft laws obliging state officials and their family members to state their incomes; on preparation of a single state registry of natural and legal persons, who had been made answerable for corruption crimes; prohibiting courts and law enforcement bodies to accept financial charitable support, etc.
President Yushchenko has been repeatedly saying that corruption in our state is a major problem that threatens democracy and supremacy of law. Therefore in his letter to Prime Minister he suggested that the Government paid more attention to fighting corruption and implementation of relevant President’s decrees. Also he requested to inform him in person on the results.
