UN commission comes to inquire Ukrainian peacekeeper's death in Kosovo

A commission of the United Nations Organization has come to Kosovo to look into the causes behind the death of a Ukrainian peacekeeper, Foreign Ministry press secretary Vasyl Kyrylych told a news briefing.

He said the commission was set up on April 29, following the appeals of Ukraine and Poland.

The purpose of this visit is a maximum objective investigation of planning and conduct of the operation in the Mitrovica city court building, during whose capture the Ukrainian peacekeeper was fatally wounded, Kyrylych says.

Earlier the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ukraine urged UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to guarantee an objective and efficient investigation of events that caused the human death.

As reported, on March 17, one Ukrainian peacekeeper was killed and 20 were wounded when militants fired on a police post in Kosovo.
