President demands constructiveness in Parliament

President
Victor Yushchenko made a brief statement today regarding latest events in the
Verkhovna Rada, in which he urged deputies of parliamentary majority to resume
constructive work.

“I call
upon the Government and coalition majority in the Parliament to get back to
democratic work… Not to follow populist path”, he said in his statement. “I
would like to clearly declare: no reckless schemes of reshaping the coalition will happen. I perceive
no measures regarding holding early parliamentary elections and will be doing everything
so that current Parliament and majority would account for their obligations
before the voters.”, - he added.

Making comments on the situation in the Verkhovna
Rada Victor Yushchenko said: “I am surprised that today for the first time in
our history we have an unprecedented situation, when coalition majority, [which
is supposed to be] bearing responsibility for its stable work, started to block
it”.
