Yermilov Vasiliy or Vasyl (1894-1967) - Ukrainian painter, Avant-garde artist (Cubist, Constructivist, Neo-Primitivist), designer. Yermilov was born in Kharkov. In 1910 he studied at the Art School in Kharkov. In the same time he had the lessons in the studio of Eduard Steingerg. In 1911-1912 he was the member of the Golubaya Liliya (Blue Lily) in Kharkov.
In 1912 he attended the Moscow School for Painting, Architucture and Sculpture (MUZHZV). In the same year he had the contact with Vladimir Mayakovsky and David Burliuk. In 1914 Yermilov returned to the School for Applied Art (Kharkov) that he graduated with Diploma in Decorative Painting. In 1918 he founded the group of artists League of Seven in Kharkov. In 1919-1920 he designed posters and decoration for May Day.
In 1922 he was a co-founder of the Technical Art Institute in Kharkov. In 1925 Vasiliy Yermilov became the member of the Association of the Revolutionary Art of the Ukraine (ARMU), together with David Burliuk, Vadim Meller, Alexander Bogomazov, Victor Palmov and others. In 1928-1929 he was the artistic director of the magazine Avantgarde. From 1944 to 1947 he was the teacher at the National Art Institute in Kharkov. Vasiliy Yermilov died in Kharkov.
