Ukrainian Foreign Ministry condemns extremism on behalf of Lebanese armed groups

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry condemns any manifestations of extremism on the part of non-governmental armed groups in Lebanon, which threaten stability in the country and the whole Middle East region.

As the Foreign Ministry spokesman said in his commentary, recently, armed conflicts have been observed among the Nahr Al-Barid Refugee Camp in the vicinity of Tripoli and militants of the Palestinian radical group Fateh Al-Islam and the Lebanese Armed Forces, as a result of which 50 persons, including civilians, were killed and dozens of people were injured.

Ukraine hopes the bloodshed will soon stop and the situation around the camp be normalized in the context of the Lebanese leadership's efforts to secure stability in the country and to avoid escalation of conflicts on political, religious or ethnical grounds, the commentary said, as reported with reference to the Foreign Ministry press service.
