Oil pipeline Odesa-Brody-Gdansk has future - Polish representative believes

The oil pipeline Odesa-Brody-Gdansk project experiences rough time because of Kazakhstan announced plans to transport oil to Europe only over the Russian territory.

"The situation is very complicated", - head Anna Skaworska-Luczynska of the Embassy of Poland in Ukraine Trade and Economic Mission said. At the same time she stressed that statements of some Media about the project has no future do not correspond to reality.

Anna Skaworska-Luczynska informed that the state owns about 25% of all oil produced in Kazakhstan. The rest is owned by private firms. "These firms can be involved in oil pumping in other directions, but not across Russia", - she said. Besides, according to her, if the Kazakh Government sees the project's resumption, it may change its way of looking on the issue.

Azerbaijan is ready to fill the Odesa-Brody oil pipeline with oil, it has its interests in the West, - she pointed out. Moreover, more and more consumer-countries become interested in the project. "We have to consolidate and take a decision then", - the Trade and Economic Mission head stated.

As it was earlier reported, Poland stated lately that it will contribute to completing the Odesa-Brody oil pipeline in the direction to Gdansk in case Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan also guarantee their participation in the project.
