President Yushchenko meets President Lukashenko

In the city of Gomel, Belarus, President Victor Yushchenko met with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko tête-à-tête.

Opening the meeting President Yushchenko said that it is a great pleasure for him “to be in friendly Belarus and discuss questions of bilateral relations with President Lukashenko”.

President concerned about the incident involving Yuriy Lutsenko

In response to information in mass media about the incident in Frankfurt Airport involving Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko, President Victor Yushchenko addressed Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko with the request to initiate an inquiry and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Volodymyr Khandogiy with the request to contact Embassy of Germany in Ukraine and ask it for official information on the incident.

President concerned about situation with the captured Ariana vessel

President Victor Yushchenko expressed concerns about the fact that on May 2 Somali pirates have captured Ariana freight vessel with 24 Ukrainian crewmembers aboard and instructed the Foreign Ministry to apply measures necessary for releasing Ukrainian sailors.

Official visit to Switzerland

On May 14-16 President Victor Yushchenko will be visiting Switzerland with the official visit.

Meeting with the President of Finland

On May 13 President Victor Yushchenko will meet Tarja Halonen, President of Finland, who makes an official visit to Ukraine on May 12-14.

Presentation of national decorations on the occasion of Mother's Day

On May 12 President Victor Yushchenko will take part in presentation of state decorations on the occasion of Mother's Day.

Participation on celebration of Victory Day

On May 9 President Victor Yushchenko will take part in arrangements celebration of Victory Day.

At 9.30 President Yushchenko will put flowers to the Unknown Soldier’s Tomb in Kyiv.

At 10.00 he will take part in a festive procession along Khreshchatyk Street together with Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn, representatives of local authorities, state deputies and veterans.

After that, following the moment of silence President Yushchenko will address Ukrainian nation with a speech on the occasion of Victory Day.
